Myself As Another

If you liked the last Bond movie (Casino Royale), you’ll probably love this one (Quantum of Solace). Reasons?:

• The action is even more frenetic than the last one.
• There are consequences for his misogyny.
• The writers further cultivate the compassion he revealed in the last film.
• Jeffrey Wright.
• The wall of sound.
• Mathieu Amalric
• Closure to Bond’s origin story.

There are plenty of reviews. Read some. Or don’t. Just go see it.

One note, thought. As much as I love seeing Daniel Craig play bond, I hope he calls it quits. There’s closure at this point, and he still hasn’t lost his maleability. (Read: we can still watch him in other things, and we won’t have to fight against seeing James Bond.) He’s just too good of an actor. To charismatic.

His best movie, I think: Layercake.

Another good moive of his: Sylvia.

Unless you’ve got a home theater set-up, go to the theater and watch it. Run, don’t walk.
